How To Disable / Uninstall Windows Live Messenger
Monday | Labels: Tips | |Most of the people don't use windows messenger which comes with the Windows OS bulk. It auto loads at every startup and resides in the system tray.
Obviously it slows down the booting process and if you really don't use it you might consider disabling it or even completely removing it(yeah, its possible to uninstall it)
DISABLING WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER:
Follow these steps
*Go to Start--> Run. Type gpedit.msc
It will open up Microsoft Group Policy Editor
*There go to Administrative Templates in Computer configuration.
* Open Windows Components
* Click Windows Messenger
* There you'll find "Do not allow windows messenger to be run". Double click it to open it
* Select Enable and press OK
Done!
UNINSTALLING / REMOVING WINDOWS MESSENGER:
Goto Start--> Run and copy paste this command exactly
and press enter.
This will cause slow opening of Outlook Express if you have the Contacts Pane enabled. To troubleshoot it....
Open Registry Editor (by going to Start--> Run and type regedit)
Now browse to following
there, on the right side, right click and create a new DWORD value(if its not already there)
name it Hide Messenger and set the value 2
Now you've gotten rid of windows messenger!
