Rescueing SMS Messages Before Formatting Smartphones / Transferring To Other Smartphone
Monday | Labels: Mobile, Tricks | |Once i had a huge collection of over 3000 SMS messages in my phone. But then shit happened, like they always do with smartphones and i had to format it!!!
One can save contacts by backing up in SIM but what about SMS?? NAH, creating phone backup won't work if its a virus case.... you will have that damned thing back.
Well.. like they say, there is always a way.
Except a few, most smartphones have the option to choose between the memory (i.e- phone or card) to save messages. All the messages are stored in folder "Mail" in system folder of that respective memory.
Firstly the default nokia explorer "File Manager" don't shows hidden folders, and the system folder and its contents are all hidden, so we have to choose some other file explorer to get there.
FExplorer is a pretty good thing for this purpose, although you might choose some other you prefer.
Now if you try to copy the mail folder that is already in use i.e currently set to act as memory in use, you will get one file missing, namely index. so first change the memory in use option of messaging settings to other memory ( if you don't already know its in Messages-Settings-Others ) and then copy
Now you can format, after you've done just replace the originally copied folder in the same place.
Same way, even if its not the formatting case you can transfer all the SMS to some other fone.
