Question:
Hard Drive Not Recognized-:
"My computer is not recognizing my SATA Hard disk after formatting through windows installation disk. It Gives an error message "No Hard Disk Detected". Why is my hard disk not detected ?
The connection cable is all intact, and Hard disk is detected when i boot from a live Linux CD. "


Solution:
This is a general problem with SATA HDD when used with windows XP.
The problem is that windows XP does not provide necessary RAID drivers for SATA HDD. Thats why these is no hard disk detected. You need to rely on the RAID drivers provided by your hard disk manufacturer.

First get a floppy of RAID driver of your SATA HDD.

Now when to boot from windows intallation disk, in the start of installation when the windows loads necesaary drivers, in the bottom of screen you can see the message " Press F6 If You Need To Install Third Party Raid Driver".
At that very moment press F6 and insert your disk containing RAID drivers.
Follow the instructions and install the driver.
Now windows will recognize your SATA HDD and you can procced to install windows.
This is a general instruction(since you have not specified the make of broad hard disk etc) if no hard disk detected during XP instalation, Please comment back if you are still having problems.
